Maestro Jeffrey Dokken has been Music Director and Conductor of the Rome Symphony Orchestra (RSO) since 2017. RSO is the American South's oldest continuously performing professional symphony remarkably now celebrating One Hundred and Four (104) seasons. The RSO continues to thrive artistically and expand its cultural impact under Maestro Dokken's leadership.

Dokken also serves as Principal Guest Conductor of the Guayaquil Philharmonic in Ecuador, one of Latin America’s leading orchestras, and Artistic Director and Conductor of the American Contemporary Classical Orchestra in Washington, DC, an ensemble devoted to performing and commissioning accessible, beautiful neoclassical works.

Maestro Jeffrey Dokken founded and produces Music With the Maestro in Washington, DC in 2021, affording an educational  lecture platform with curriculum content addressing music, curated concerts and streaming sessions. Dokken formed joint ventures with institutions and artists to embellish the educational structure aimed to broaden knowledge of the bones of classical music.

Dokken maintains a vibrant guest conducting career, having led ensembles such as the National Symphony of BrazilGuayaquil Symphony OrchestraOrchestra Domenico Orchestra Scarlattii (Florence), Orchestra Senzaspine (Bologna), Symphony Orchestra of Cuenca, Orquesta Sinfónica de Loja, Long Island Concert Orchestra, International OrchestraInternational Chamber Players (Manhattan, NY), Opera Guild of Northern Virginia (Arlington, VA), The Washington Men’s Camerata, (Alexandria, VA), A Capella Pops (Philadelphia, PA), Reformation Festival Choir (Washington, DC), Twin Shores Chorus, (New York, NY), St. Marie’s Choral Arts (Leonardtown, MD) and others; and served as Artistic Director for CoroAllegro, DE.

Upcoming Dokken engagements include return performances across Ecuador and the United States, as well as debuts with the Cairo Symphony and the International Brazilian Opera Company (IBOC). IBOC premieres the opera For Whom the Bell Tolls in Brasilia, based on Ernest Hemingway's novel, with music by Brian Wilbur Grundstrom and a libretto by David M. Dorsen. This significant and progressive project has been supported by a Sister Cities Grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.

Maestro Jeffrey Dokken was featured in the August 2016 "Best Of" issue of Virginia Living Magazine. As the founding conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia (SONOVA), Dokken was recognized as one of the region's most vibrant music directors. 

Education

Maestro Jeffrey Dokken earned Secondary Music Teaching Credential - Bachelor of Music from University of Redlands.

 

Dokken's Master of Music was obtained from University of Texas at El Paso and achieved his Orchestral Conducting from California Lutheran University; 

 

Maestro Jefftey Dokken further studied Conducting with Dr. Steven Cooksey, Dr. Eddie Smith and Jeffrey Rickard; voice with Dr. Anthony Zwerdling, Lorene Forsyth and Patricia Gee; and composition with Dr. Angie Jelliff. 

 

Maestro Dokken studied euphonium with Dr. Phil Keen; and piano with Dr. Angelica Prodan. 

 

Maestro Jeffrey Dokken is an accomplished tenor in both opera and musical theatre with finely honed artistic vision and strategic planning for orchestral season conducting orchestral and choral with an advanced skill set, masterful application and unrivaled expertise.
